This is as close as we get to a PlayStation Phone release date we can get right now. The rumor is that the device is coming Spring 2011. That rumor comes from Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun (via Bloomberg Japan). They claim that the Sony Ericsson PSP Phone (not to be confused with the also rumored PSP2) will first hit the US then Europe this Spring.
It's based on the design of the PSPgo, which has yet to see any real success at retail, but uses a trackpad rather than an analog nub.
As expected, Sony Computer Entertainment, who handles the PlayStation side of Sony did not comment on the matter. What we do know, however, is that the device is said to run on Android 3.0, Honeycomb, which should be releasing in the coming months. It will also have a "Sony Marketplace" which we hope offers PlayStation-branded games rather than just being limited to mobile-type games.
It's said to be loaded with a 1GHz Qualcomm CPU 1GB ROM and 512MB RAM. The screen is rumored to be about 3.7 to 4.1 inches.
