Gail Davis, the woman who was announced as the winner of Apple's 10 billionth App countdown winner, originally thought the call from Apple was a prank, according to a report. As it turns out, one of her two daughters, aged 14 and 17, was actually responsible for that 10 billionth download. They just shopped under her account. That may explain why the App they won was a freebie (a game called Paper Glider, in case you're wondering).
They ran down to tell Gail that is wasn't a joke, it was in fact a call from Apple. That's when Gail became worried, thinking that she had blown a shot at a $10,000 iTunes gift card. She tried to call Apple back, but all she could reach was a customer service representative, who, despite her best efforts, was unable to help Gail.
Luckily, she got a call from an Apple executive a few hours later and all was well. Nice to see that everything turned out well in the end.
