Will Apple’s Social Network Be More Visual Than Verbal?

Wednesday's release of the second iOS 4.3 beta yielded a tantalizing clue for code-grovelers: a folder named "Media Stream" buried deep in the system files.  The only contents of said folder: some kind of image-sharing app called "Photo Stream."  Rumor has it that Photo Stream is sort of an Apple variant on Windows Phone 7's Photo Hub: photos snapped on your iDevice and uploaded to a MobileMe gallery would be pushed to friends with stream-viewing permissions.

When you couple this with the "Find My Friends" code discovered in the previous 4.3 beta, the hints that Cupertino is gearing up to enter the social networking wars seem louder and louder…
