May be best to wait for the iPhone 5 if you are on Verizon.
Remember that iFixit report from earlier? Here's a refresher. They've discovered that the new Verizon iPhone is actually equipped with a chip from Qualcomm that is compatible with both CDMA and GSM networks.
This is in line with rumors we heard long ago about Apple going with Qualcomm's dual-mode chips. This could make sense as it would be the easiest way for Apple to sell future phones rather than having two different chipsets to keep track of.
Where does this lead us? Well if Qualcomm's new chipset works across both networks, that means both carriers may be capable of using the next-generation iPhone. As we said before, we don't see Apple wanting to keep tabs on those different builds. They will probably have one phone and design it to work across both networks.
