Those who have been following the news on the Verizon iPhone will know this, but it's important that those who haven't been made aware of it know something. The Verizon iPhone has a slightly different design thanks to the new antenna design. This means that the buttons along the side of the phone are in slightly different locations and the previous iPhone 4 cases won't fit correctly.
You must make sure that your case works with the Verizon iPhone before purchasing, but for your convenience we've compiled a short list of compatible cases. Know that most are clearly marked by the retailer if they work with the new handset.
1) Official Apple iPhone 4 Bumper – $29.00
This one is designed by Apple, so it's a good choice if you don't want to bother with the hassle of searching far and wide for something you like. What's nice is that it's what is called a bumper-syle case, so there is less bulk. The front and the back are exposed, while only the rim of the iPhone is covered. It will help protect your phone from a drop because the sufaces will not take the impact if it falls.
2) Case-Mate iPhone 4 Gelli Cases – $19.99
This is a full case design, it covers not only the outer edge of the iPhone, but the back as well. It's one of those gel cases so it's soft, meaning it absorbs impact if it's dropped. It's also lighter-weight than the more solid cases. Anotehr solution for those who don't like bulky cases.
3) Wrapsol Protective Film – $29.95
This is for those who don't like using cases, but want some of the protection. It's simply a plastic film that is placed on all surfaces of the iPhone 4. It probably won't save you from a cracked screen if the phone should fall, but it will help protect against scratches while your iPhone is in a pocket, bag or purse.
4) Case-Mate iPhone 4 Sigature Leather Case and Holster Combo – $49.99
This is the sightly more elegant solution. Leather cases are often much thicker and mean more bulk, but they are also pretty good for protecting your iPhone when it takes a hard hit against the pavement. This one also comes with a little clip holster. That's probably why it costs $50 bucks.
5) Accent iPhone 4 Case – $29.99
This iPhone case is designed to protect the handset front, back and sides. The front flap lifts so that the use can talk, and flips down so that they can make sure that the screen is protected while they aren't using the phone.
To protect or not to protect?
We don't know if you will choose to get a case or not. As for iSmashPhone, some of us use cases and others don't. Still, if a $20 investment will keep your iPhone from getting a cracked screen and you know you tend to drop your phones a lot, you may want to give a case a try. That glass screen is very breakable.
