Now reports are saying that the iPhone 5 will have NFC technology.
We know what you're thinking: This is almost getting funny. First, we hear the initial reports saying that the iPhone 5 will feature near-field communication (NFC) technology. Cool!
Wait. Now there was a report from the Independent saying that the iPhone would not have NFC tech. That sounds like a letdown, especially after all the reports we were hearing that the iPhone 5 would have NFC technology.
Now, the latest news to come in is from Elizabeth Woyke of Forbes in the form of a Tweet:
Just met with an entrepreneur who says the iPhone 5 *will* have NFC…according to his friend, who works at Apple. Huh.
So we don't know which it is at this point. Heck, even the major outlets have no idea which it is at this point. We just report back what we hear.
Either way, there were enough rumors pointing to yes to give it some credibility. Unfortunately, the truth still is, until it's confirmed by Apple, everything else is just rumor and speculation.
Maybe we can have an iPhone betting game of some sort. That could be fun. Everyone could bet on which rumors they think are true and which they think are false then everyone will have a grand ol' time.
