How to Use a Smart Cover on Your iPad 1

Well, we can't say that we are fond of this idea, but someone out there seems to have tried it, and it kind of works. The designer calls it a simple hack to fit the Smart Cover. It definitely looks doable, but our question is this: Would you want to glue a set of magnets onto your iPad? In our eyes, if you still have the iPad 1, you obviously still see some value in it, so we doubt that attaching these things sounds like a good idea.

The other downside is that it won't wake or sleep the device, so you are out of luck there as well. Hey, it's his iPad, but at least the solution is open to anyone who wants to give it a shot. Also, one of the methods for standing the tablet doesn't seem to work very well because of the curved back.

If you watch the video above, you will hear exactly how he did it. Either way, we wouldn't recommend it, but this was just too interesting to pass up. As for us? We'll stick to our cheap little Targus netbook case that runs for less than $20 at most retailers.

Readers, what do you think of this little iPad mod? Would you give it a go or say "no way!"? Let us know in the comments.
