Update: Looks like Apple has dropped the price further.
With today’s iPad 2 announcement the original iPad seemed to have disappear entirely from Apple’s online store. Well, they aren’t on Apple’s front page anymore, but this may be one of the best times since launch to buy an iPad.
Sure, the great new fast, thin “latest model” contraption is coming in less than two weeks, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pick up the original iPad, which is a wonderful device as it is. Given the current price, we don’t think it’s all that bad of a deal for the budget-minded consumer.
For example, you can pick up the original 16GB wifi model for $399, that’s $100 off the regular price. The 32GB is $499, which puts that model at the previous introductory price and the 64GB is $599.
Looking for a 3G model? Those are all all $100 off: $529, $629, $729 for 16, 32 and 64GB respectively.
If that’s not quite as much of discount as you would have liked, you can always take a look at the refurbished models with one of our live blog readers (thanks for the heads-up, man!) pointed out earlier today.
To go with the iPad refurbished models will set you back $349 for the wifi 16GB, which is $150 off the regular price. That’s a huge discount, and probably very worth checking out.
Other models are also discounted, but we are sure that supplies are limited as this is just Apple clearing out inventory and making room for their new stuff. If you have been on the fence about getting an iPad and having the most up-to-date version doesn’t take priority over price, this is definitely the way to go.
