This one is making big news, and we were a bit skeptical at first as we tend to live by the manta “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” However, the case may be different this time around as the folks at Boy Genius Report checked it out first-hand, and are confirming that the service works “flawlessly.” It seems that quite a few sites are remote unlocking iPhones, regardless of model.
If that’s true, this a a huge thing for iPhone owners who like to unlock their devices. Whether you use an iPhone 4 or another iPhone model such as the 3GS or 3G, you can use this method. It goes something like this:
1) Pay up the $179.99 fee
2) Send over your IMEI.
There are a few ways to find your iPhone’s IMEI. The easiest is by plugging in your iPhone and opening up iTunes. When you check your iPhone’s info, you should be able to click on the words “Phone Number” and that will reveal your iPhone’s IMEI.
According to Apple, you can also check the back of the box your iPhone came in. It’s on the back near all the barcodes.
The SIM tray also includes the IMEI.
3) You should then have a code generated for your device. You will have to unlock direct through iTunes.
We haven’t tested out for ourselves, but this is just what we heard according to BGR, who did get to try it out.
If you are interested in unlocking, you can check it out here. It’s a bit pricey, but doesn’t require a jailbreak or anything else after that.
Check it out here.

Okay, post a video of it first
Agreed. Post a video of it in action with the generated code being entered on the phone and I’ll happily shell out the $180.
They probably won’t post a video because they’re FAKE… Probably a bunch of losers tryna take people’s money! Fuck outta here you little bitches! I know one thing, just don’t let me find any of you scammers anywhere. I will make an example out of you and STEAL all of your equipment.

1. If these sites are really accessing Apple’s databases, you can bet they’re going to get sued out of existence. Also, I can’t imagine Apple would allow the phones to continue to be unlocked once they find out which phones were unlocked with this method. Wouldn’t it be easier to find a hole in iTunes to have it spoof an IMEI number of an unlocked phone? I suppose these numbers would eventually get blacklisted but I’m sure there’s plenty of hackers out there that can keep putting out numbers to use.
