Yesterday the Guardian UK broke the story about the iPhone keeping records of location data and backing them onto the computer. For more info on that story, you can check out yesterday's post on the matter. While the data isn't easy for the average person to access without a tool like iPhone tracker, and the computer that the iPhone is backed up on, there are concerns about privacy and security. Legitimate concerns, though some are more worried than others, even amongst the iSmashPhone team.
Either way, a jailbreak developer by the name of Ryan Petrich released a tool called untrackerd. This will block the device from tracking your location. This will give some users peace of mind. This may, but this may help people who don't like the idea of others knowing where they have been.
Here is the Cydia description of the application:
This package installs a daemon (process that can run in the background) to clean consolidated.db file) No new icons are added to your homescreen. There are no options to configure.
