The white unicorn of Apple's mobile world, the white iPhone, has a litte resurgence in the iPhone rumor mythbook, but this time is a sign of a much more striking possibility. Images are now in of a white iPhone that is uniquely different than the retail versions that we have seen, or the mockups of the white iPhone 5 that people love to model up on their computer and send out to the blogosphere.
What we get from this is a prototype white iPhone that has a distinctly different model number from the previous models: N94. The AT&T version is listed as N90 and Verizon is N92, which is what has led many users to finally land on the fact that this is a prototype white iPhone for T-Mobile.
The T-Mobile iPhone has been a suggestion and rumor just as long as the Verizon iPhone idea has been in the public consciousness, but true to form it was much less likely. Now that the Verizon iPhone has blown up and opened it to an entire other market, Apple may be looking to completely dominate the mobile world altogether.
The device that has been seen is clearly a test prototyple, not a version of the iPhone 5 that could simply be then released on T-Mobile later this year. Instead, it is running the current iOS and includes many of the apps that developers keep on test models like the Apple Employee Directory. Apple is not going to release this as an iPhone 4 version for T-Mobile just late in the game, so we can expect that the T-Mobile iPhone may be on the way even if it is not in the next few months. No matter what, this casing development shows that Apple has been listening and that the White iPhone may grace Verizon and AT&T users with the release of the iPhone 5.
