When updating your OS or upgrading your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you want to make sure that you have all the stuff you worked on, right? Otherwise, all those hours spent on Infinity Blade and Angry Birds will have been for noting. Or you may want to share your game progress with the friend. Let's take a look at how to back up those save files.
Hit the jump for the how to
1) You will need iPhone Explorer. It's free, and it does awesome things by letting you access the files on your iDevice when plugged into your computer. The nice part is that it doesn't require a jailbreak or anything special. Just download the software onto your computer and plug in your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. It's available here.
2) Connect your device and look for the save files (we have four examples below, and they are some of the more popular iOS games). The downside is that each game saves files differently. That's a bummer. However, we've found that the files are usually under Library/Preferences or in some of the settings files within Documents.

3) Drag and drop the save file onto your computer.
4) Connect the device you want to copy to (your iPad 2 or your brand-new iPhone) and drag and drop the file to the appropriate location.
That's it! You're done.
