The WWDC is just days away and it looks like a major release is at hand.
One of the most recent suggestions of this is in the kind of outreach that Apple’s public relations department is doing to build up a city of onlookers. Recently there were in Britain talking to different publications and media institutions, making requests that they make it to the San Francisco conference. This would be a little excessive to say the least if there was not something groundbreaking on the horizon.
The expectation has not been to see the iPhone 5, but instead for a look at software coming out. They have been public about this being a look at what is coming up with the iOS and the Mac OS, which means that the iOS 5 should be showcased in its entirety. There is no indication that manufacturing has started on the iPhone 5 as would be necessary for the June 6th unveiling, and it looks like September is what people are going to be waiting for.
What is to be included can only be speculation right now, but Apple’s cloud music service is likely to be something that is going to peek out from behind the operating system. Beyond this there might be a little independence from the hard iTunes connection for updates as many people believe that the iOS 5 updates are going to be over-the-air, which means that you can download and install them mobile.
Now that the Developer’s Conference is listed as sold out you can expect that the blogosphere will be in a flood upon the opening day, but with a new turn in software we are likely to see a bold statement from Apple themselves. The development of the coming years is going to come in this form rather than an influx of hardware changes, and this will be marked by the changes in the Mac OS, the growing integration of the App Store, and Apple’s push towards streaming media.
