A long time ago, about nine years ago, to be exact, Apple released the iPod. Not long after that, someone registered the domain name iPods.com. Currently, navigating to iPods.com redirects you to a site called "MP3Gold.com."
Techcrunch reports that Apple filed a complaint yesterday saying that the domain name should be transferred to them. As they mention in the story, Apple does own the iPod trademark, and they speculate that it should be resolved rather quickly. Apple does instantly bring up thoughts of the iPod, iPhone and iPad, so we doubt there is much argument there. Though we won't claim to be experts, and we don't know how these things typically work when it comes to domain names.
Still, Techcrunch does ask why they waited nine years. Again, we're just going to guess, but maybe they wanted to make the case that they sell million of iPods a year and the domain should belong to them.
