Today, website StrategyPage.com posted an interesting report on turning the iPad into a weapon. It talks about the US Army and their Army Marketplace which is a place for military smartphone users to download apps. It even talks about the App Wanted section, an area where users can submit descriptions of apps they need.
It's interesting that consumer technology is being adopted by the military in such a way. It's cost effective considering what goes into research and development of new technology. All they are left to do is develop their own software and a private app store of some sort.
The report is very interesting, and you can take a look at it here: StrategyPage.com
