File this one with news of the weird, if true. What would you do for an iPad 2? Well that doesn’t matter, because this guy topped us all off. If you were to ask 17-year-old Zheng from Huaishan City in China, he’d tell you he really went the distance. The dude sold his kidney.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could not afford it. A broker contacted me on the Internet and said he could help me sell one kidney for 20,000 yuan.”
According to reports, that’s roughly $3,000, so he got more than enough for the iPad 2 he wanted. Unfortunately, the kid’s not feeling well. It was also discovered that the Chenzhou No. 198 hospital he went to was not qualified for organ transplant. They say they had no idea about Zheng’s procedure because whomever performed the surgery had been contracted to a Fujian businessman
The family has not been able to reach the broker and the case remains under investigation.
