Now This is My Next is reporting on the possibility of an iPad HD. This could be similar to what we heard yesterday with the rumor of the iPad 2 Plus. This time, news comes from Joshua Topolsky, formerly of Engadget. While it’s strange that Apple would want to release a second iPad at a higher resolution, we’ve been hearing so many rumors about it happening this fall, all from different outlets that it makes us wonder. Here’s a small chunk of the story:
“Our sources are saying that not only will there be a newly designed iPhone coming in the fall, but there is going to be a new entry into the iPad family as well. As hard as it might be to believe, the new tablet is said to sport a double resolution screen (2048 x 1536), and will be dubbed the ‚Äö√Ñ√∫iPad HD.‚Äö√Ñ√π The idea behind the product is apparently that it will be a ‚Äö√Ñ√∫pro‚Äö√Ñ√π device aimed at a higher end market ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ folks who work in video and photo production possibly ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ and will be introduced alongside something like an iPad version of Final Cut or Aperture. This product is specifically said to not be the iPad 3, rather a complimentary piece of the iPad 2 line. Think MacBook and MacBook Pro.”
The report does make a good case by comparing the tablets to the MacBook and the MacBook Pro, saying that one device will be aimed at a pro level and the other will be a consumer device. It seems more reasonable when you look at it that way. They also add that this model is not actually a successor to the iPad 2. It’s just another device in Apple’s tablet line.
