Lodsys, the company that’s been on a patent infringement lawsuit spree, is continuing to contact developers, alleging patent infringement for their use of in-app purchasing. The latest on the hit-list, Sunstorm Interactive. They want these developers to obtain individual licenses for the use of the system.
Apple sent out a letter a while back saying that they would stand by their developers, but has announced little since. Apple then filed a request to intervene in the proceedings, but they are still waiting on a ruling for that.
According to a report from AppleInsider, some industry watchers have expressed displeasure with Apple’s response. They say that Apple hasn’t handled it particularly well.
Lodsys, no doubt a patent troll, has ongoing lawsuits with several major names, such as Atari, Square Enix, Rovio, The New York Times Company and more.
