Rumor: Apple to Release Ultra-Thin Pro-Grade Laptops?

MacBook Air 2011 Closed

Like this, but bigger!

Could a thin MacBook Pro be in the pipeline? Some rumors point to yes.

The 11-inch MacBook Air is Apple’s current consumer-level laptop. It replaced the white plastic MacBook as the non-pro notebook from Apple. The 13-inch Air is just  a step above that. The MacBook Pro, on the other hand, is a good bit heavier and thicker than the the MacBook Air. Of course it’s also a more powerful laptop that’s designed for professionals (those video editor types love the Pro).

The MacBook Air has been a hit for Apple since the 2010 refresh. The price was just right, and the laptop had what it needed for most users. It’s been updated since, and it still seems to be doing very well. Now rumors are emerging that Apple may be planning to release a 15-inch MacBook. It’s not completely clear whether this will be called a “Pro” or an “Air” but it’s definitely going to be geared at the buyer who would otherwise go for a MacBook Pro. On top of that, there is rumored to be a 17-inch model also in the works. These are said to be in the final stages of testing, and may be available as soon as this holiday season.
