You can now jailbreak iOS 5 beta 5 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad and iPod touch. For those who have access to developer builds, iOS 5 was released last week. Since then, the Dev-Team has announced that iOS 5 beta 5 can in fact be jailbroken with Redsn0w.
However there are a few things to know. For one, it’s advised that only jailbreak developers do this, and of course it’s tethered. Otherwise don’t do it, both iOS and the jailbreak are in beta. Here is the official word from the Dev-Team:
“redsn0w has been updated to 0.9.8b5, adding support for Apple’s new iOS5 beta5 (point it directly at the beta5 IPSW). Please use this only if you’re a jailbreak app developer with a legit Apple dev account, and remember it’s a tethered jailbreak for now!”
Again, the jailbreak is in beta, and the Dev-Team continues to stress the fact that it’s not meant to consumers. For that reason, we won’t be running a how to jailbreak iOS 5 until there is a confirmed safe method for the rest of us.
