We’ve heard the rumors time and time again. The iPhone 5 is expected to be announced on October 4th at Apple HQ in Cupertino. Tim Cook will introduce us to the next iPhone and announce a release date.
Just when can we expect it to hit the market?
Rumored Release Date
It’s been widely reported that the iPhone 5 will be launched on October 14th. It will be available on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. That hasn’t changed. It seems to be that way as it’s reported that employees at Apple retail locations will not be allowed to take vacations around that time. That usually means Apple has a hot new product on the way and wants to ensure that the massive lines will be handled.
What’s Not Clear
Right now there is a lot of talk of the iPhone 4S. No one is entirely sure what it is, or if it’s real. There are three possible scenarios: 1) The iPhone 4S is THE next iPhone. 2) The iPhone 4S will accompany the iPhone 5. 3) The iPhone 4S was just a rumor that never came to be.
Apple Renovating Stores Ahead of iPhone 5 Launch
It looks like some Apple Stores are being renovated (via MacRumors). It’s not unusual for Apple to blackout their retail locations and work on the insides ahead of a major product launch. However, it seems that those happen overnight. These particular stores will be closed for roughly a week and they will reopen on October 5th, the day after the iPhone 5 is scheduled to be announced and perhaps when pre-orders will begin.
Soon, the Lines
We know that with any major iLaunch (iPhone and iPad) huge lines form. Those wanting to check out the excitement of waiting in line and talking to other fans as the clock counts down to release date. When we see those lines forming around the various Apple stores and piling on by the hundreds, we know the time is near.
