Hands-On Review: iFrogz BackBone Case For iPad 2

Apple’s Smart Cover for the iPad 2 has been something of a game-changer in the third-party case market.  Makers of full-body and folio-style cases often adopt the Smart Cover’s embedded magnet technique to put the iPad to sleep when the case is closed, while the bumper-case side of the fence are now revising their product to use the Smart Cover in conjunction with their products.

iFrogz’s BackBone case (US$34.99) falls squarely into the latter camp.  It’s a traditional polycarbonate bumper case with all the port/controller/camera cutouts where you’d expect them to be.  Not only does the BackBone play nice with the Smart Cover, but iFrogz released it in twelve different colors: ten to match the current Smart Cover colors, “plus we threw in a white and clear, just in case. Pun intended.” (Oy…)

If you already own a Smart Cover, the BackBone is a (no pun intended!) smart addition to your iPad protection strategy.
