Hands-On Review: Proporta Aluminium Lined Leather Case For The Apple iPad 2

Who says you can’t have it all?

Proporta doesn’t, that’s for sure.  Take, for example, their folio-style leather case for the iPad 2.  First key word is “leather.”  As in hand-crafted.  As in soft to the touch.  As in all-over protection: front, back, and sides.  (But with strategic cutouts for controls, inputs, etc.)

Most case makers would have stopped there and said “Eh, that’ll do.”  Proporta said “What else can we do?”  Well, for starters, the screen flap contains an aluminum plate lining to give your precious (and fragile) touch screen an extra layer of armoring.  Once the flap is folded back, a series of tabs and cutouts allow the case to double as an upright support for tabletop viewing.  BUT WAIT!  THERE’S MORE!  Close the flap and — eureka, your iPad just turned off!  Yes, there’s a Smart Cover-style magnet embedded in the flap as well.

Available in a choice of black or brown leather, the Proporta iPad case isn’t cheap at £59.95, but the price includes shipping and a lifetime warranty.
