iPhone 5: The Next iPhone Is Bound to Be Thinner, Wider

 iPhone 5 Mock-up

A quick iPhone 5 Mock-up. Not the real thing, obviously.

One thing that keeps popping up as we hear more and more rumors about the iPhone 5 is that the new design will be thinner, and it will have an edge-to-edge screen.

Also mentioned many times in the past is that the new iPhone will be slightly wider, and feature a tapered back design.

Many websites, such as Techcrunch, believe that this may in fact be the case. The single common denominator? The leaked cases. Whether or not the leaked cases are all entirely accurate, one thing remains constant throughout. They are slimmer than the iPhone 4 and they are wider. They also make room for what would be an edge-to-edge screen.

Have a look at some of the many cases we’ve already seen:

While other parts of the case designs have changed, such as the camera and flash, the slimmed down, widened case remains a constant throughout the many designs that have emerged. It’s also possible that Apple will want to re-introduce the tapered back as it gives the feeling of added thinness.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out over the next few months. For now, have a look at some of our other iPhone 5 rumors and roundups:
