The long-awaited update to iOS now has an official release date, October 12, 2011. The date comes just in time for the release of the iPhone 5 on Oct 12, 2011, and adds a huge helping of great new features.
New in iOS 5 are features such as iCloud, which makes it much easier for users to sync and unify their iPhone, iPad and Mac experience. Also welcome is a hugely improved notification system that does away with that annoying blue box that pops up in the middle of your games and a great reminder system.
iMessage, which is a way for users of iOS devices to communicate as they would with SMS, but minus the texting charges, is also a new addition. It will allow iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users to communicate with each other as if they were texting.
