We linked to this piece yesterday, but it’s just so good that it’s worth linking to again. Brian Lam seems truly sorry for some of the things he did at Giz with the iPhone 4. Even though he and Steve weren’t always on the best of terms, they respected each other, and one of the last things Steve said to Lam during an otherwise heated conversation over the missing iPhone was “You’re just doing your job.” – Link
Walt Mossberg, who has spent much time talking to Steve Jobs, wrote another great piece about his personal experiences with Steve Jobs. – Link
Gruber wrote a touching piece on Steve Jobs over at his website, Daring Fireball. It’s a short read, but it says a lot. We genuinely enjoyed it. – Link
Steve Jobs knew his time was near. That’s according to a person familiar with the matter. Walter Isaacson’s last interview with Steve was about four weeks ago. Just before and shortly after he stepped down. “Jobs indicated that he knew he was going to die soon.” – Link
Time Magazine has stopped the presses, and is putting together a special issue in honor of Jobs. Stopping the presses is a huge deal, especially in today’s world where print isn’t cheap. The special issue will be available worldwide and is getting a larger print run than usual. This marks the seventh time Jobs appears on the cover of Time Magazine. – Link

An Excerpt from Walter Isaacson’s Essay in Time:
In the early summer of 2004, I got a phone call from him … He wanted, instead, to take a walk so we could talk…
That seemed a bit odd. I didn’t yet know that taking a long walk was his preferred way to have a serious conversation. It turned out that he wanted me to write a biography of him…I later realized that he had called me just before he was going to be operated on for cancer for the first time. As I watched him battle that disease, with an awesome intensity combined with an astonishing emotional romanticism, I came to find him deeply compelling, and I realized how much his personality was ingrained in the products he created.
Steve Wozniak remembers Steve Jobs. This is a great video, great job by the Woz. We wish him the best in dealing with the loss of a lifelong friend.

Apple once bought all the ad space in Newsweek for a November/December election special of the magazine. This was in 1984. You can see it all here. – Link
Tributes from Around the Internet:
Amazon has a small tribute on the side of their homepage.
Google’s homepage also has a little something for Steve Jobs.
Perhaps one of the best is BoingBoing, they redesigned their entire website to look like the desktop of early Mac OS.
