The iPhone 4 and the MacBook Air got some love at the T3 Gadget Awards 2011. The iPhone 4 placed fourth behind the Samsung Galaxy SII, the HTC Incredible S and the Motorola Atrix. While that may sound like nothing for Apple to smile about, keep in mind that the iPhone 4 is well over a year old and the other phones were all released between early to mid-2011, in some cases a year after the iPhone 4.
Considering that the iPhone 4 was ranked highly amongst newer phones, that’s not a bad place to be for a phone that debuted in the summer of 2010. Unfortunately, the iPhone 4S hasn’t been released officially yet, and there was really no way we could see how that would have turned out, but recent benchmarks show that, despite the handset’s exterior, it’s 68 percent faster than the previous model, sure to win over some critics.
Also at the gadget awards, was the MacBook Air. It was named the best computer.
Here’s what was said about the laptop (via Tech Radar):
“Where earlier incarnations of this sub-laptop were like supermodels in their blend of jaw-dropping looks and innate stupidity, this one is like a supermodel who has been abducted by aliens and fitted with “the brain tripler of Thunng”
“Its dual-core processor and Intel HD graphics mean it can handle hi-def video and cutting-edge gaming, at least with the resolution turned down a tad, while it breezes insouciantly through everyday tasks.”
Furthermore, the iPhone 4, iPad 2 and Kindle all made it on the list of Gadget of the Year, but Microsoft’s Kinect for Xbox 360 took home that prize.
