Pre-orders for the iPhone 4S recently began in Hong Kong and a handful of other territories. How long did it take the iPhone 4S pre-orders to sell out completely? 10 minutes.
According to a 9to5Mac, Hong Kong and Shanghai, which both house Apple Stores, are ideal places for purchasing because of low taxes. Furthermore, the device is likely to hit mainland China in December, and according to Apple Siri should be able to understand Chinese by 2012.
China has also been a major player for Apple, as the iOS platform has grown at an astonishing rate. China has become the second largest consumer of iOS apps in the world, and at its growth rate, is likely to hit the top.
It seems that the shortage of iPhones isn’t just limited to Hong Kong, the report goes onto say that retail checks indicate that roughly 85 to 90 percent of the retail stores are selling out on a daily basis (this was after calling about 30 Apple Stores, the report says).
It looks like the iPhone 4s is doing quite well. Better than the iPhone 4, in fact.
