Foxconn is Putting Over $1 Billion into Ramping Up iPhone Production

Foxconn, the folks who actually assemble all our iPhones and iPads (and just about every other piece of consumer electronics we get our hands on) is betting big on the iPhone, according to reports. They are investing $1.1 billion into increasing production capabilities. Heck, the iPhone 5 (or iPhone 6, or whatever the next one is) should be ready for next year. Why not ramp things up a bit?

The report (via Electronista) says that Foxconn is planning a huge $1.1 million expansion on the factory in Zhengzhou in hopes of doubling their output to about 400,000. This could definitely pay off as the iPhone is a huge seller. Not only that, the plant may also manufacture other handsets.
