Apple yesterday released OS X 10.7.3 beta to developers. Nothing unexpected there. However, what’s interesting is that they found that Apple’s working on some higher resolution Retina Display-like models, HiDPI.
We also recently heard those rumors of a MacBook Pro with a super-high resolution at 2880×1800, according to MacRumors, this would give the computers four times the resolution, making it easy for developers to scale existing artwork. While the checkbox is there, it’s reported that it is non-functional in current Mac OS X builds.
The beautiful Retina display is already available in the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and current-gen iPod touch models. Perhaps Apple will begin putting it in their Macs and iPads as well.
