Report: Farewell to the Box – Logic Pro and MainStage Headed to Mac App Store (UPDATE)

Logic is going to be hitting the Mac App Store. While that may be cool news from a convenience standpoint, it’s kinda not too great news is you want to have all the additional content. $500 got me Logic Pro, Mainstage, Compressor, Waveburner, Soundtrack Pro and gigs worth of Apple Loops and samples. It was a 50GB install, highly doubtful that we will see that with a download version.

Anyway, if you want Logic, you will soon be able to buy it direct from the Mac App Store. However, if you want to have all that additional content, you may need to act soon. Know that this update says nothing about Logic X or 10 or anything of the sort. They simply sent a note out to retailers telling them that they would be distributing the “new” Logic Pro 9 and Mainstage via the Mac App Store, according to website MacRumors. The good news? Mac App Store apps seem to have unlimited single-user licenses. Logic Pro currently only allows one desktop and one laptop. Let’s hope it works that way with the Mac App Store version. Oh seems like Soundtrack is gone too.
