An image that is rumored to be Apple’s iPad 3
According to reports, Sharp was originally to supply the display for Apple’s upcoming iPad 3. However, It’s said that they failed to pass Apple’s approval process for mass production.
Taking over will be LG and Samsung. If reports are accurate, they have already begun production on the panels. Apple is said to be placing orders for 65 million LCD panels for the iPad 3 in 2012, 5 million of which will be supplied the first quarter to help meet launch demands.
The iPad 3 has been speculated about for sometime now. In fact, many thought we would be seeing the iPad 3 as early as 2011, in time for a holiday release. Those reports obviously turned out to be wrong. 9to5Mac also points out that the site with the news isn’t known to have broken Apple news in the past.
Still, it’s interesting to read up on what may be happening with Apple’s next tablet. There is no hard evidence, but there probably won’t be any before it’s officially unveiled.
