Here’s something not related to the Consumer Electronics Show for a change. Five years ago today Steve Jobs, who was then CEO of Apple introduced the iPhone. That’s right. The very first iPhone was unveiled exactly five years ago.
The original iPhone was announced in January. January 9, 2007, to be exact.
It was quite the announcement. I can remember Steve Jobs standing on stage and announcing what originally seemed like three separate devices. He was playing his audience. He then said something along the lines of “These are all one device,” then said we call it “iPhone.”
It was a cool announcement. The crowd went wild. There had been speculation already, but this just meant it was real. Fast forward to today, and it’s still one of my favorite Apple announcements ever.
