Apple: Employee Whose iMessages Were Leaked Did Not Follow Procedure

iPhone 4S

A few days ago, website Gizmodo posted some messages and images of an Apple Store Genius Bar employee whose information was leaked. It gave them a look into his personal life and some of the things he does daily.

While it’s been called a bug by some, Apple contests that it’s not a bug. According to their official statement, the employee did not follow procedure.

Here’s a portion of the report from The Loop, which includes Apple’s official statement on the matter:

“This was an extremely rare situation that occurred when a retail employee did not follow the correct service procedure and used their personal SIM to help a customer who did not have a working SIM,” Apple representative Natalie Harrison told The Loop. “This resulted in a temporary situation that has since been resolved by the employee”

Yeah, it sucks that his info was released like that. However, it was a pretty dumb move to do what he did. Perhaps he didn’t know that his iMessages would be sent to the customer’s iPhone. Not a very Genius thing to do. At least his identity was concealed.
