Apple is reportedly working on a fix for a security hole that allows developers access to user photo libraries through their iOS apps.
We learned of the vulnerability yesterday after the New York Times’ Bits blog reported on it. This obviously caused some alarm for some users as they were unsure whether developers had accessed their photo libraries. One developer tested it out with an app he created called PhotoSpy, and it worked as expected, but the app was only created for testing purposes and was not submitted to the App Store.
The Verge spoke to some people who are familiar with the matter and they were told that there is most likely a fix on the way. Apple knows about the issue and they will patch things up in an upcoming version of iOS. It’s also been confirmed that these issues are not an intended feature.
