Foxconn, who puts together our iPads and iPhones for Apple, recently announced that they will be raising pay for entry-level workers. It will be increased somewhere between 16-25 percent, according to the report.
Much of this comes after criticism from protestors and much of the media over the alleged treatment of workers. Worker suicides have also caught the public eye.
According to the report, Foxconn’s pay is already well above minimum wage set by the government. It’s definitely a situation that’s a bit more complicated than many of us make it out to be. Still, it seems that they are taking action in some way.
Apple also worked to bring some attention to employee treatment by having the Fair Labor Association (FLA) investigate.
