This is what I call junk science – the following report fails to take into account the fact that the majority of Android users use pretty much the same apps in the top of the charts. Also, iOS 4.2 represents over 20% of the iOS users on this chart and we know that less popular iOS5 apps may have not been updated properly by developers. (note that report was created based on data from last December: 12/1-12/15).
In a new study conducted by the mobile application monitoring company Crittercism, it is noted that iOS applications crash more often than their Android counterparts. The results, as you can see in the below images, speak for themselves: more applications crash under iOS 5.0.1, while Android apps appear to be more stable.
