According to a recent report from AFP, Proview, who has taken Apple to the Chinese courts over the use of the iPad name, is ready to talk to Apple as a settlement may be reached.
In a nutshell, the lawsuit involves China-based Proview Technology, who claims ownership of the iPad trademark. Apple, who sells the iPad in mainland China, is said to be infringing on the trademark owned by Proview. Proview wants to sue Apple for up to $2 billion, that’s quite a pretty penny. Still, Proview’s lawyer, Xie Xianghui, spoke with AFP and said that they are preparing for negotiations with Apple, “the court cases will continue until we reach an agreement.” He did say that Proviews intentions were “peaceful.”
