This video shows several people trying to figure out which iPad is the new iPad. The results may surprise you.
We don’t know how this happens, but apparently some people can’t see the difference between the Retina display and the older iPad display. In some cases, they even choose the wrong one as being the sharper, crisper screen.
Sure, it’s difficult to tell which is which when the screens are off. We will give it that. The tablets look almost identical, and the only way you could really tell is by the weight and thickness (the new iPad is ever-so-slightly thicker and a bit, though noticeably when held side-by-side, heavier).
One observation I did make, however, was that one person at about 1:07. He seemed to know exactly what he was looking for and moved in for a closer look at the screens. Most of the others just kind of looked down and pointed at the tablet they thought was the newer one. I also have to wonder what would have happened had they switched hands. Many of the people were immediately pointing to the one on the left. I don’t know if that means anything, but it’s worth trying to switch things up to see if the majority of people just keep pointing to the left.
