Apple’s latest iteration of their Apple TV set-top box got a brief mention at today’s iPad event. There isn’t a lot of information outside of what was mentioned, but lets take a quick look at what’s new.
Quickly noticeable is the new user interface of Apple TV. It feels a bit more like the iOS we have grown accustomed to on our iOS devices. It has app icons rather than lists like previous-generation Apple TVs.
Movies can now be streamed from iCloud and iTunes at 1080p. Users will need the new Apple TV in order to stream at that resolution. We are looking forward to our 1080p full-HD streaming for sure.
Same Price and Form-Factor
The new Apple TV looks just like the current-gen Apple TV. It’s also priced the same at $99. This seems like Apple’s sweet spot for pricing. Neither the price or the form-factor are going to change for this device.
Available Next Week
The latest version of Apple TV will be available next week, says Apple. Pre-orders have already begun, and it’s available at Apple’s website.
