We’ve heard this rumor before, and now iMore is weighing in. They claim that the iPad 3 will have 4G LTE support. This is something that the Wall Street Journal also reported in February. It’s worth noting that iMore also nailed the March 7th date for the event long before Apple announced it, so their source is probably pretty reliable.
Right now it’s not entirely clear if LTE will be available outside of the US. Here is a portion of the repot from iMore:
Sounds like LTE is good to go, though it remains to be seen how Apple will handle the many different 4G bands being used internationally. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that AT&T and Verizon would be getting LTE-equipped iPads, but had no word on carriers outside the U.S.
We thinks LTE is a safe bet for the iPad 3. Right now, there is nothing really telling us if we can expect it from the iPhone 5, which is expected to release later this year.
