Apple may soon be launching a streaming TV service, say recent reports.
Rumors persist that Apple plans on launching something, anything that deals with television. We’ve heard rumors of the Apple-branded television set, and we’ve heard more recent ones about an update to the Apple TV set-top box.
The most recent rumor comes from the New York Post, which says that Apple hopes to launch the new service by Christmas. The report says that Apple’s Eddie Cue, senior VP of internet software and services, is leading the way and talking to content providers. According to those in talks with Apple, the company wants to control the pricing and content on the service. That’s not something providers are fans of.
Apple is also said to be in talks with AT&T and Verizon. This is not the first we’ve heard such rumors. They were said to be in talks with broadband providers in Canada as well earlier this year.
