Apple sold a boatload of iPads over the weekend.
The good news keeps pouring in for Apple, especially if you’re an investor. Looks like things have gotten even better. This morning Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the new iPad’s sales had been record breaking. However, he chose not to go too far into it as the subject of the conference call was Apple’s dividend share and repurchase program.
The tablet, which launched Friday, March 16, has already sold three million units. We don’t know when those numbers were pulled, but that can probably be factored in at roughly 1 million iPads a day.
Needless to say, Apple’s senior VP of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, sounds pleased, “The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch ye … customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.”
Well, they are definitely doing pretty good. It’s the fastest-selling iPad yet, which is amazing once you consider that this is the third-generation tablet and it’s expected that some users may just hold onto their iPad 2 rather than make a switch. Doesn’t seem to be the case–must be that sexy Retina display.
