Military personnel who are currently deployed can unlock their AT&T iPhones even if they are on contract, according to a new report.
AT&T only recently began making the process of unlocking iPhones easier for people. They will now (finally) unlock your off contract phones.
This is extremely helpful for folks who are overseas and must use other carriers when traveling the world. According to the report, carriers must, by law, not penalize deployed service members upon termination of a contract. However, they are not required to unlock the handsets. AT&T is doing this for their convenience.
That said, it’s worth it for those service members to contact the carrier and learn the specifics.
