Verizon subscribers love the iPhone. Verizon has announced their earnings for the first quarter of 2012, and it turns out that the iPhone makes up more than half of their smartphone sales.
The company said that they activated 3.2 million iPhones in the quarter. According to a report, that’s less than what they sold Q4 2011, which was 4.3 million, still, that was a launch month and broke records for Apple. Still, it’s worth noting that they sold a total of 6.3 million smartphones over Q1, which means that the iPhone made up a significant chunk of that total.
As MacRumors points out, Analysts normally expect this slight slowdown after the quarter that the handset has been available. However, what should help is the fact that they rolled out the iPhone 4S throughout various territories the months following the US launch, which they say may help Apple maintain some of that momentum as different countries experienced their own launches over the quarter.
