How To: Use LastPass to Share a Password Securely

Here’s a cool how to that shows LastPass users how to securely share a password. It’s useful for those times you need to give a friend or family member a password but don’t want to do it over email or some other means that may not be as secure. Keep in mind that this method isn’t 100 percent secure, because the person you send it to could figure out how unencrypt it.

Here’s how to go about it:

1) Open up your LastPass Vault, either through your computer with LastPass installed or through your browser.

2) Select the site with the password you want to share, and click the “Share” link on the right-hand side.

3) Enter the email address of the person you want to share the password with. They should also have a LastPass account, and you will enter the email associated with their account.

4) You can set it to either “Share” the password, which will let them use it but won’t actually show it to them, or you can choose “give.” This option will actually allow them to see it. They should receive a notification email shortly after you share.

That’s it.
