This is a cool story. Kudos to Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) for landing a role in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek sequel. He couldn’t make it to his audition, but he used his iPhone to record a reading and sent it over. It landed him the gig.
According to a report, he recorded it in a friend’s kitchen. Abrams thought it was so good, he called it “one of the most compelling audition readings I’d ever seen.”
Nothing is mentioned about his role, but a report speculates that he will play Khan.
