The iPad was created as a tablet that meets the gap between a laptop computer and a smart phone. One of the main things that will drain the iPad battery life is going to simply be the screen itself in the presentation of images. This lit display will pull life out of the battery consistently, and the lighter it is the more power it consumes. One of the primary ways you can save battery life is to turn off the automatic screen brightness and put on a manual setting at a lower intensity. The automatic setting senses how much light is in the area of the screen and then adjusts the light itself. This will actually take the screen from dim to light depending on how much light is in the room, but it will save battery life if you turn this off and then just lower the brightness on the iPad altogether. Start by going into Setting and choose Brightness & Wallpaper, which is under Location Service. Turn off Auto-Brightness and then drag the intensity bar to the left of the screen. This will set the screen to a much dimmer perspective and the battery will drain at a slower rate.
The next thing you have to consider is that you have to turn off elements that reach out beyond the device itself, which are considerable. The fist on the list should be Bluetooth since it is not necessarily essential for basic functions and apps. If you absolutely need to continue using it and are on your last energy leg then go back into Settings and choose Wi-Fi, which is under Airplane Mode and above Notifications. Right at the top, above the list of available Wi-Fi connections, ill be an On / Off switch for Wi-Fi, which you should turn to the Off position.
Beyond these options are really going to be anything that allows data to come on and off of the iPad, especially if you must maintain Wi-Fi or cellular data. Push data will be the first line to select from this. Go into Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then go to Fetch New Data.
