Okay, this isn’t really a big deal, but it’s kind of funny. According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, Orbitz is steering Mac users to pay a bit more on their website.
It seems that Orbitz believes Mac users are more likely to pay a bit more for their hotels and more likely to book a four- or five-star hotel. Mac users do tend to be associated with a slightly higher-income demographic, according to reports. That somewhat makes sense as Macs tend to be more expensive than PCs.
The service’s usage data was reflecting that and targeted Mac users with the slightly higher, fancier pricing.
