AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson recently said that it’s too early to discuss fees for FaceTime over a cellular network. This comes after some rumors that the carrier was planning on charging extra for the ability to use the service over 3G or 4G.
He simply said, “I’ve heard the same rumor. It’s too early to talk about pricing,” adding, “we will share more information with our customers when if becomes available.”
The reason AT&T is being questions on this is because developers with access to iOS 6 beta 3 found that they received an error message when trying to make a FaceTime call over 3G through AT&T.
FaceTime over the cellular network is something users have wanted since its debut in 2010. Let’s see if it happens without some sort of additional fee.
